Singapore: Protection from Harassment (Amendment) Bill Compiled by: LS1965’s Team of Legal Consultants & Lawyers
Singapore Introduced: Protection from Harassment (Amendment) Bill Singapore Existing: Protection from Harassment Act Important Provisions to note: 1. The Bill (see page 64) proposed to “extend the offences under Sections 3, 5 & 6 to the publication of the identity information of another person, which may not, by itself, be a threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour of communication.” Our comments: Does this fetter “Freedom of Speech” to report the Truth to ALL? See the recent case of Criminal investigation Department of the Singapore Police Force where a law-abiding Singapore Citizen was being inflicted with grave damage on her reputation and her business by CID Police Officers! Any reporting of facts should not fall under such provisions unless the Government wants to promote unjust oppressions & damage inflicted by deliberate parties! Do you think so?
How about reporting possible unjust Laws drafted by Ministers and Passed by Singapore Parliament? See Updates on 18 April 2019, 9:50pm.
2. The Bill (see page 64) seeks to enhance the power of the court to make orders in respect of false statement of fact by replacing existing Section 15 with powers to make stop publication order, a correction order, a targeted correction order, a general correction order and various interim orders. Our Strategy: Try to cite News Publications, Laws before you comment, these will help you to establish facts to save you from prosecution!
3. The Bill (see page 64) seeks to clarify both individuals and entities that may be liable for contraventions and offences under Sections 3, 7 & 10. Our comments: No defamation, harassment on social media, stalking or contraventions of any orders please. If you live your life as a law-abiding citizen and have been unjustly treated like this case, contact us & we will help you!
4. The Bill (see page 64) also makes related amendments to the Criminal Procedure code (Cap. 68) & Family Justice Act 2014 - to be compiled next round!
5. See the proposed amendments on Sections 3 & 4 of the Protection from Harassment Act in Pages 8-9 of the Bill. Our comments: Don’t stop publishing if you know they are facts! Let’s warn others concerning injustices happening in Singapore!
6. New Section 15A Stop Publication Order (pages 35-36 of the Bill), Section 15B Correction Order (pages 36-38 of the Bill), Section 16 on Interim Order which includes Section 16A Interim Stop Publication Order & Section 16B (pages 38-41 of the Bill) are only applicable to “false statement of fact”!
Incomplete compilation, to be continued next round. Thanks for reading!
