#John21:19–23

St Theophylact. When our Lord says to Peter, Follow Me, He confers upon him the superintendence over all the faithful, and at the same time bids him imitate Him in every thing, word and work. He shews too His affection for Peter; for those who are most dear to us, we bid follow us.

#John21:24–25

Saint John Chrysostom. This is said to shew the power of Him Who did the miracles; i.e. that it was as easy for Him to do them, as it is for us to speak of them, seeing He is God over all, blessed for ever.

June 7: Feast of Saint Robert of Newminster, Confessor (from EWTN),

(Extracts: Robert was described as a devout, prayerful, and gentle man. He is known for being merciful in his judgment of others and a warm and considerate companion. Robert was a close spiritual friend of the hermit Godric of Finchale. On the night Robert died, Godric is said to have seen a vision of Robert's soul, like a ball of fire, being lifted by angels on a pathway of light toward the gates of heaven. As they approached, Godric heard a voice saying, "Enter now my friends.")

Saint Antonio Maria Gianelli, Bishop of Bobbio (quotes, quotes, quotes)

& other Saints.

Some extracted Commentaries:

#John21:15–17

Saint Augustine. While our Lord was being condemned to death, Peter feared, and denied Him. But by His resurrection Christ implanted love in his heart, and drove away fear. Peter denied, because he feared to die: but when our Lord was risen from the dead, and by His death destroyed death, what should he fear? He saith unto Him, Yea, Lord; Thou knowest that I love Thee. On this confession of his love, our Lord commends His sheep to him: He saith unto him, Feed My lambs: as if there were no way of Peter’s shewing his love for Him, but by being a faithful shepherd, under the chief Shepherd.

Saint John Chrysostom. That which most of all attracts the Divine love is care and love for our neighbour. Our Lord passing by the rest, addresses this command to Peter: he being the chief of the Apostles, the mouth of the disciples, and head of the college. Our Lord remembers no more his sin in denying Him, or brings that as a charge against him, but commits to him at once the superintendence over his brethren. If thou lovest Me, have rule over thy brethren, shew forth that love which thou hast evidenced throughout, and that life which thou saidst thou wouldest lay down for Me, lay down for the sheep.

Our Comments: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, we don’t need them to lay down their lives for us! You please look at the innovative ways they have used to empty our pockets & harm us. Thanks to them; many in the Church are following their “patterns”! Jesus, You take over!

June 6: Feast of  Saint Norbert, Bishop & Confessor (quotes, quotes, quotes),

Saint Marcellin Champagnat, Priest (quotes)

(Extracts: Champagnat never wrote an extended exposition of his educational philosophy, but he believed that to teach children one must love them; secular subjects should be well taught as a means of attracting children to the schools, and they would learn the basic elements of their faith as well. Influenced by the French school of spirituality, Champagnat saw God at the centre of life and the Virgin Mary as a sure means of attracting people to God.)

Some extracted Commentaries:

#John17:20–23

Saint John Chrysostom. Another ground of consolation to them, that they were to be the cause of the salvation of others.

Saint Hilary. And this unity is recommended by the great example of unity: As Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in Us, i. e. that as the Father is in the Son, and the Son in the Father, so, after the likeness of this unity, all may be one in the Father and in the Son.

Note here that the Saint obviously does not include those “anti-Christs” among us. See Twitter X Posts:

#John17:20–23

Saint Bede. That which He calls glory then is the love wherewith He was loved with the Father before the foundation of the world. And in that glory He loved us too before the foundation of the world.

Saint Theophylact. After then that Jesus had prayed for believers, and promised them so many good things, another prayer follows worthy of His mercy and benignity: O righteous Father, the world hath not known Thee; as if to say, I would wish that all men obtained these good things, which I have asked for the believing. But inasmuch as they have not known Thee, they shall not obtain the glory and crown.

June 5: Feast of Saint Boniface, Bishop & Martyr (quote, Fulda)

(His Prayer: In her voyage across the ocean of this world, the Church is like a great ship being pounded by the waves of life's different stresses. Our duty is not to abandon ship but to keep her on her course. Let us stand fast in what is right, and prepare our souls for trial. Let us wait upon God's strengthening aid and say to Him: "O Lord, you have been our refuge in all generations." Let us trust in Him who has placed this burden upon us. What we ourselves cannot bear let us bear with the help of Christ. For He is all-powerful, and He tells us: "My yoke is easy, and my burden light." Let us continue the fight on the day of the Lord. The days of anguish and of tribulation have overtaken us; if God so wills, "let us die for the holy laws of our fathers," so that we may deserve to obtain an eternal inheritance with them.)

& other Saints.

4 June 2025 (Wednesday) #MassReadings USCCB

Commentaries:

#StJohnChrysostom (#Acts 20:28-38 ) ,

#StAugustine (#Psalm 68:29-30, 33-35-36ab ) ,

& Saints (#John 17:11b-19 ) .

Sending You Joy, Love & Peace from #Singapore!

These are extracted from the warnings of Saint Paul in Acts 20:

29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come among you, and they will not spare the flock. 30 And from your own group, men will come forward perverting the truth to draw the disciples away after them.

33 I have never wanted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You know well that these very hands have served my needs and my companions. 35 In every way I have shown you that by hard work of that sort we must help the weak, and keep in mind the words of the Lord Jesus who himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Our Comments: Beware of those “wolves” who use the Church as the $$$$-making machine to con the Faithful. They turn their sermons into campaigns to grab $$$$$, twist the word of God to induce you to give & refuse to care even you have been made jobless in this slow Economy while you are under high stress to look for work, to pay the mortgage loan and ensure that your family members are properly fed! You ask them to pray for the Sick, they “do their duties to pray & anoint the Sick” then go off, but they don’t care if the Patient has become better thanks to their prayers. These are the words of Jesus:

Matthew 8: 7 As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.

John 14: 12 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.

Our Comments: You see for yourselves how many Sick being healed or how many Dead being raised after their Prayers & you will know whether these P****** have the Holy Spirit abide in them!

You’d better D.I.Y.  See here: https://x.com/Michael65413248/status/1886585856364044782

Some extracted Commentaries:

#John17:14–19

Saint John Chrysostom. Above, when Jesus said, Them whom Thou gavest Me out of the world, He meant their nature; here He means their actions. They are not of the world; because they have nothing in common with earth, they are made citizens of heaven. Wherein He shews His love for them, thus praising them to the Father. The word as when used with respect to Him and the Father expresses likeness of nature; but between us and Christ there is immense distance. Keep them from the evil, i.e. not from dangers only, but from falling away from the faith.

Or thus: Sanctify them in Thy truth; i.e. Make them holy, by the gift of the Holy Spirit, and sound doctrines: for sound doctrines give knowledge of God, and sanctify the soul. And as He is speaking of doctrines, He adds, Thy word is truth, i.e. there is in it no lie, nor anything typical, or bodily. Again, Sanctify them in Thy truth, may mean, Separate them for the ministry of the word, and preaching.

Or thus: For their sakes I sanctify Myself, i.e. I offer Myself as a sacrifice to Thee; for all sacrifices, and things that are offered to God, are called holy. And whereas this sanctification was of old in figure, (a sheep being the sacrifice,) but now in truth, He adds, That they also might be sanctified through the truth; i.e. For I make them too an oblation to Thee; either meaning that He who was offered up was their head, or that they would be offered up too: as the Apostle saith, Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy. (Romans 12:1)

June 4: Feast of Saint Elizabeth Hesselblad, OSsS, (quotes),

(Extracts: …On 23 April 1957 she gave her blessing to the sisters and held her raised hands in a solemn gesture in which she murmured: "Go to Heaven with hands full of love and virtues"…)

Saint Filippo Smaldone (from Vatican),

Saint Francis Caracciolo (quotes)

(Extracts: When his body was opened after death, Francis' heart was found as it were burnt up, and these words imprinted around it: "Zelus domus Tuæ comedit me"—"The zeal of Thy house hath consumed me."…)

& other Saints.

Please pray for us & help us daily (especially the Sick & the Needy) till we meet in Heaven. Many Thanks.
